Qualifying as a Master of Wine in 1996 and working for Tesco Stores Ltd, the UK’s number one retailer, as their Australian-based Product Development Manager for wine I gained a unique understanding of the global wine market and wine retailing. Over 20 years in the wine trade has seen me working in France, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and South America.
I chose to become a certified Carbon Neutral business when I realized the magnitude of the impact that my business travel was having on the environment. Having read Tim Flannery’s The Weather Makers it seems to me that we are all capable of reducing our carbon impact and that we have a duty to do so. In the wine industry we’re already seeing what I believe are the impacts of climate change so it is an issue that’s very close to home on a personal and professional level.
